Day 1 & 2: Quito Arrival & Exploration

Our Pacha guides will welcome you to the capitol city of Ecuador at the Mariscal Sure International Airport to head back into the heart of the old town. We are excited to welcome you to Hostal Quito Cultural, a family-run guesthouse within walking distance to Plaza Grande, the Basilica, Presidential Palace & Centro de Arte Contemporaneo. Our guesthouse has a beautiful rooftop deck with amazing views of the Andes Mountains.

These next few days we spend time as a group strolling the cobblestone streets exploring artisanal stores, get acclimated to the 9,200ft of elevation & get to know the Ecuadorian cuisine of the central highland region of the country. We will take the Teleferico (gondola) up to the base of Pichincha, an active stratovolcano. We will offer an optional day hike to the summit of Ruku Pichincha (15,413ft).

Day 3-4: Agato Community Stay & Yoga Retreat

We are ready to hit the road north to our two-night community stay in amazing Andean community of Agato. This small village is situated in the valley of the volcano Imbabura. We will stay at the Pakarinka Learning Center a public indigenous center where we will be welcomed by the Agato families who will share their artisanal traditions, celebrations & rituals, ancestral music, food & agricultural systems.

We will have optional guided yoga & meditation at Pakarinka as well as optional day activities such as waterfall hiking, dances lessons & cooking classes.

Day 5-7: Cotopaxi Exploration

We are off! We say goodbye to amazing community of Agato to head south to the slopes of Ruminahui Volcano where we will spend the next two days exploring the amazing Cotopaxi National Park.

We will settle into our farmhouse style guesthouse at 11,811ft surrounded by four volcanoes. El Porvenir is a working ranch that is dedicated to sustainable agriculture, cattle farming, conservation & ecotourism. The farm produces milk, cheese, herbs & vegetables used in the meals provided by the hacienda.

Group options for day hiking & trekking, mountain biking or even horseback riding. Most Pacha gals will get the chance to hike to the José Ribas Refuge (15,760) or Cotopaxi’s Base Camp. For those prepped and ready with their crampons, Day 7 will be spend the final day here summiting Cotopaxi Volcano (19,347ft).

Optional spa visits available at El Porvenir at the APU Mountain Spa, which includes group hot tubs & Temazcal room (house of hot stones).

Day 8-9: Papallacta Hot Springs & Departure

It’s time to wind down! We will end our amazing journey at the Papallacta Hot Springs, a small village in Napo Province just off the Eastern Cordilleras on the road that leads to the Amazon jungle. We will spend the night in this jungle oasis soaking in the hot spring pools right outside our doorsteps. A few more options for great hiking in case you haven’t had enough, otherwise we will cozy on up and relax in this tranquil mountain town before heading back to the Quito airport to say goodbye!
