Maine Mountain Hiking & Yoga Retreat, May 11th-13th
What a special place for a Pacha weekend retreat. Thanks to our friends at Nurture Through Nature center for letting us take over the mountain lodge, yurts and cabins for our May Hiking & Yoga Retreat this May. We have a fantastic weekend with 9 women from Maine, New Hampshire & Vermont. Our yoga classes were led by instructor, Sarah Quintus, who led amazing and dynamic sessions throughout the weekend. We took a beautiful spring day hike up Pleasant Mountain, ate delicious home-cooked and healthy meals by the wood-stove and even took a dip in the mountain brook... but, luckily we had access to a wood-fired sauna after the chilly spring dip! We can't wait to come back to Western Maine for another retreat soon.
Mt. Cardigan Winter Hut & Yoga Overnight, March 17th-18th
Wow! The snow hit just in time for our trip to Mt. Cardigan. This March, we hosted a private group of 9 ladies back up to High Cabin for amazing views of New Hampshire. We split up into groups for snowshoeing & backcountry skiing, and even made it up to the summit before the wind could knock us over. We hiked, skied, and fueled up by the cozy wood-fire stove (yes, we slept in the -10 degree weather). The Pacha yoga instructors offered two restorative yoga classes to relax the muscle power we used for the whole weekend. It's a lot harder to hike in snow! Thanks to our rad crew of women that came from Boston & New York to escape the big cities and find some time to relax in the woods.
KNUBBLE BAY KAYAK & YOGA WEEKEND RETREAT, SEPTEMBER 22ND-24TH
This past fall, Pacha Adventure Co traveled to the rocky coast of Maine for a two night yoga retreat at the AMC Knubble Bay Camp located in Georgetown, ME. Knubble Camp is perched on the edge of the Sasanoa River leading into the Gulf of Maine, a perfect location to relax and be outdoors. Each day consisted of three sessions of vinyasa yoga along with hearty meals prepared with local ingredients. On day two, the Pacha ladies went for a half day kayaking tour of the Sheepscot River led by local guides from Sea Spray Kayaks. Highlights of the excursion included paddling with seals, Bald Eagle nest spotting, and a stop for lunch on Powderhorn Island, a remote isle recently incorporated into the Maine Island Trail!
DOUBLEHEAD CABIN HUT & YOGA ADVENTURE: JULY 22ND - 23RD
What an incredible way to kick-off summer hiking season! The Pacha team hosted 6 women from Massachusetts & New Hampshire this past weekend at Doublehead Cabin outside of Jackson, New Hampshire. Right next to Black Mountain, North & South Doublehead peaks have great views directly across from Mt. Washington. We kicked off the trip with a 2 mile hike straight up the mountain! Our crew enjoyed summit views at both peaks and spent the afternoon doing slow flow yoga in the cabin and enjoying each other's company in the cool mountain air. Cat cooked up a delicious backcountry vegetarian taco meal and our whole crew hiked to South Doublehead to watch the sun go down. Trip number two did not disappoint with sunset views and morning coffee in the mountains. Plus, another session to stretch out our legs before a healthy breakfast and spectacular views. Thanks to all the amazing women that came out to join us at Doublehead.
MOUNT CARDIGAN HUT & YOGA ADVENTURE: APRIL 29TH - 30TH
Our first official Pacha Adventure was a success! We had 12 ladies join in on the overnight from Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire. The trip began with a moderate 2 mile hike up to the AMC High Cabin where we dropped off our overnight equipment and continued a half mile onto the summit of Mount Cardigan to enjoy the 360 degree views. After enjoying a summit beer we headed back to the cabin for a sunset yoga session and to unwind while an organic dinner was prepared. The next morning we got up at 5am and hiked to the summit for a beautiful view of the sunrise! Afterwards we stretched it out with a guided yoga session next to the wood-fire and finished off the trip with an organic breakfast of blueberry muffins, oatmeal and fruit.
